Since 1915, Walker's "Building Estimator's Reference Book" has been considered the "bible" of construction cost estimating. Contractors have long relied upon Walker publications because of our singular focus on the method of cost estimating. Starting at the turn of the century as a bookkeeper for a Texas construction company, Frank R. Walker took copious notes on job costs - and in a few years he had developed an estimating system that his supervisor was offering to buy.
Instead, Walker set out for the nation's mail order publishing center - Chicago - and began distributing his text himself. At the same time, Walker continued in the construction business. With a prolific sense of innovation, Walker soon developed a line of forms that estimators could use in conjunction with his estimating method. Since that time, succeeding generations of builders have found Walker books and forms to be the most efficient and reliable tools in making their construction cost estimates. Our staff includes estimators who update our publications continuously. Our other product lines, such as tools and safety equipment, are selected upon recommendation from people who make their living on the job site. Our merchandise is of the highest quality and it is all Made in the USA. Offices are located at 1989 University Lane, Lisle, IL 60532.
